Winter Wildlife Galore! Winter Scenic Wonders! This is truly the ultimate Yellowstone Winter Photography Workshop. An all-inclusive, immersive experience, this intensive workshop includes meals, lodging, and as much instruction as you’d like. Set your camera to Manual and start exposing perfectly for wild subjects in snow-covered landscapes. We’ll spend two days in Lamar Valley and four days exploring deep into Yellowstone’s interior. Along the way, we'll photograph breathtaking scenery and diverse winter wildlife.

Our private coach and vehicle allow us to maximize every encounter and stay out as long as needed. In the evenings, we’ll continue to immerse ourselves in photography. We stay all six nights in Gardiner, Montana, giving us easy access to both Lamar and Hayden Valleys.

Our privately chartered 12-passenger snow coach will carry just six photographers, giving us complete flexibility to adjust our route based on current wildlife activity and weather conditions. We’ve secured extended access—ten full hours per day—to explore Yellowstone’s interior in depth. Depending on conditions and sightings, we will visit the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone for dramatic vistas and canyon wildlife, Norris Geyser Basin for geothermal activity, ghost trees and landscape opportunities, Hayden Valley for fox, otter, ermine, bison, and trumpeter swan, or the Lake area and Geyser Basins to the south for wolves, frosty bison, and sweeping, atmospheric landscapes. We’ll have four full days dedicated to photographing both wildlife and landscapes in these iconic and spectacular wintry settings.

During our Lamar Valley days, we may encounter bighorn sheep, pronghorn, moose, foxes, mule deer, bull elk, ermine, coyotes, wolves, waterfowl, and eagles.

Details:

Day 1 – Saturday, February 7, 2026
9:00 AM: Pickup at either Bozeman Airport baggage claim or the Holiday Inn Express in Belgrade. Travel to Gardiner, Montana. After check-in, enjoy a digital photography lecture and slideshow covering manual exposure, photographing in snow, wildlife composition, and winter natural history, followed by a quick lunch. Then we will head out to photograph on the Northern Range until dark.

Day 2 – Sunday, February 8
6:30 AM: Depart Gardiner for Lamar Valley and photograph on the Northern Range all day.

Days 3–6 – Monday through Thursday, February 9–12
6:30 AM: Each morning, depart Gardiner for Mammoth Hot Springs to board our chartered snow coach and travel into Yellowstone’s interior. Destinations include Hayden Valley, the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, the Geyser Basins, or Yellowstone Lake—wherever the wildlife and light lead us. Spend four full 10-hour days photographing.

Day 7 – Friday, February 13
6:30 AM: Photograph the travertine terraces at Mammoth Hot Springs in the morning light. We’ll also look for pronghorn, mule deer, elk, and bighorn sheep in the Gardiner Basin—and possibly moose or bull elk on the Blacktail Plateau. We’ll continue to photograph until 1:00 PM. Return to Bozeman Airport or the Holiday Inn Express in Belgrade, arriving by 3:00 PM. Depending on your flight schedule, an overnight stay in Bozeman may be necessary.
