Quality Time

At this stage in the chick's development (approximately 4 weeks), the adults did not spend much time at the nest except to feed the chick. Instead, they would do several "flybys" to check on it and would roost for hours in a large cottonwood tree across the creek about 200 yards from the nest. From there, their view was better than any baby monitor. I love this photo of mom and chick anxiously and impatiently waiting for a food delivery from the male.
