Two Grizzly Bears

Two Grizzly Bears

Two sub-adult sibling Grizzlies stick together and explore the Lamar Valley of Yellowstone.  Bears invest a good deal of time in raising young and a mother will generally keep her cubs with her for two winters following their birth.  These two sub-adults have probably just been kicked out by mom.  The grizzly bear once roamed the entire American West, but by 1870 grizzly bears were scarce, even in the state of California where they were once plentiful  -  the California State flag depicts a grizzly bear.  Civilized man had made California’s official animal officially extinct by 1924!  Yellowstone is one of only two areas south of Canada still inhabited by Grizzly Bears.
