Western Toad

Western Toad

The Western Toad does not have vocal sacs and its voice sounds like the weak peeping of baby chicks.  This toad favors habitats near springs, streams, meadows, and woodlands.  it is active at twilight, except at higher elevations, where night-time temperatures are low and where it is often active during the day.  It lives in burrows of its own construction or those of small rodents.
