Red-naped Sapsuckers play two key roles in the Rocky Mountain ecosystem.  They bore nest cavities in Aspens that provide nest sites for Swallows, and they drill sap wells in Willows that nourish Warblers, Hummingbirds, Butterflies, Chipmunks and numerous other sap lovers.
